What happens to a correction

We check the source, and if the figure is wrong it gets fixed and the page’s “last updated” date changes with it. If a recommendation was materially wrong, the page gets a visible note rather than a silent edit. If we cannot verify the claimed error, we will say so rather than removing a sourced figure on request. The full policy.

What we cannot do

• Tell you what your local ordinance says. We quote the model fire code and link it; your local fire marshal’s office is the only authority for your address, and they answer this daily. What to ask them.
• Help with an order. The retailer handles orders, returns and warranties.
• Tell you which pit smokes least. We have not burned any of them, and the method page is explicit about what that means.

Sponsorship and paid placement

We do not accept either, and no manufacturer has paid for a position on this site. If you are writing to offer one, the answer is no; if you are writing to ask whether a recommendation was bought, the answer is also no and the disclosure page sets out how the funding actually works.
