This site is not a substitute for your local fire authority, your local building department, or the manufacturer’s manual for your specific appliance.
Clearance distances, permit thresholds and burn restrictions on this site are quoted from the International Fire Code, which is a model code. It is adopted jurisdiction by jurisdiction, frequently with local amendments, and interpreted by your local fire official. Burn restrictions are issued separately and change with conditions. The figures here are the right thing to plan around and the wrong thing to rely on as your final answer.
Fire is dangerous. Operating any fire pit, gas appliance or cylinder is done entirely at your own risk and in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions, which take precedence over anything written here. Nothing on this site is professional, legal or safety advice, and no reader should treat it as such.
Accuracy of content
Specifications on this site are compiled from manufacturer and retailer listings and are accurate to the best of our knowledge on the date shown on each page. Products change without being renamed, listings are edited, and errors happen. Verify anything that matters against the current listing and the manual before you buy or act.
