Privacy Policy
Short, because there is not much to say. This site has no accounts, no newsletter and no advertising network — the only data it handles is analytics and whatever you type into the contact form.

What we collect
The contact form
If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email address, subject and message you enter. That is sent to us by email so we can reply. It is not added to any list, not used for marketing, and not shared with anyone.
The form also records the moment the page loaded, and includes a hidden field that real visitors never fill in. Both are anti-spam measures — they check that a human filled the form in over a realistic period rather than a script submitting it instantly. Neither identifies you.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and which links are clicked. It sets cookies and collects standard information: pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, and referring site. We use it in aggregate to decide what to write next.
We also record an event when an affiliate link is clicked, containing the retailer, the product identifier and the page it was clicked from. It tells us which recommendations people find useful. It does not contain anything that identifies you.
Google is the data controller for the information it collects through Analytics. Their privacy policy governs that processing. You can opt out entirely with Google’s browser add-on, or by blocking analytics in your browser or an extension. The site works normally either way.
Server logs
Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs — IP address, timestamp, page requested, user agent — for security and operational purposes. We do not use them to build profiles.
What we do not collect
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for.
- No newsletter or mailing list.
- No advertising network. No display ads, no retargeting pixels, no data-broker tags.
- No payment data. Nothing is sold here. Purchases happen entirely on the retailer’s site.
- No selling or sharing of personal information. Not to anyone, for any purpose.
Affiliate links
Links to retailers on this site are affiliate links. When you click one you are taken through a redirect on this domain and then to the retailer, who may set cookies to attribute a purchase to us. What happens after you leave is governed by the retailer’s privacy policy, not this one. We receive commission reports in aggregate: we can see that a sale happened, not who made it. Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. Google Analytics sets cookies as described above, and retailers may set them after you follow an affiliate link. Blocking cookies in your browser does not affect anything on this site.
Your rights
Depending where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information we hold, to object to processing, or to opt out of any sale or sharing of your data — we do neither. In practice the only personal information we hold is contact-form correspondence, and you can ask us to delete it at any time by emailing info@ringandember.com. We will act on a request within 30 days.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.
Data retention
Contact-form correspondence is kept only as long as it is useful for handling the enquiry or a correction, and then deleted. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ configured retention period.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the “last updated” date at the top of the page changes with it. Given how little data this site handles, we do not expect it to change often.
