Ring & Ember earns commission from qualifying purchases made through links on this site. Here is exactly who from, how much of the site it touches, and what we do about the conflict of interest that creates.

The short version
Ring & Ember is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you buy something through a link on this site, we may earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same as it would be if you had gone to Amazon directly.
That statement appears in the footer of every page, and a shorter disclosure appears above the first affiliate link on every page that carries one. The FTC requirement is proximity, not a link buried at the bottom, and we treat it that way.
Who we actually earn from
Amazon, and nobody else. Ring & Ember is a new publication and has not been accepted into any other affiliate network. Links to brand-direct stores on this site are ordinary links that earn us nothing, and they are there because sometimes that is where a product is best bought.
What commission does not affect
The obvious objection to an affiliate site is that it will recommend whatever pays best. Here is what we do about that, stated as rules rather than reassurance:
- Commission rate is never an input to a ranking. Rankings come from published specifications, weighted as set out in how we research. Commission is not on that list.
- Where a cheaper option is the better buy, it is the pick. Several recommendations on this site are the least expensive product in their comparison.
- Every roundup carries a reason to skip a product. A page that only ever says yes is a sales page, and every roundup here names what we would not buy and why.
- Some pages carry no product links at all. Putting a fire out, fire pits with kids and pets and apartment balconies are unmonetized on purpose, and each says so on the page. Attaching a product to safety content would be worse than earning nothing from it.
- We do not accept free products, and none has been offered. Nothing on this site has been supplied by a manufacturer.
- There are no sponsored placements. No manufacturer has paid for a position, and none can.
Prices, and why they sometimes disappear
Prices on this site come from a single live data feed and nowhere else. No price is ever typed into a page by hand.
That feed has a freshness gate of 48 hours. When the data is older than that, the price does not render — the button reads “check price on Amazon” instead. This is deliberate: Amazon’s operating agreement expects displayed prices to be current, and a stale number is worse than no number because it looks authoritative. Currently: no live prices are rendering.
Where a price does render, it carries the date it was verified. Prices change without notice and the retailer’s page is always the authority.
What we do not claim
Separate from the money, and worth stating in the same place: we have not tested any of the products on this site, we do not own any of them, and there is no test facility. Every product page says so and lists what a specification sheet cannot tell you. The full method.
There are also no reviews or testimonials anywhere on this site. Ring & Ember has no customers, so it has no reviews to publish, and inventing them is the one thing that would be worse than everything else on this page.
