Breeo X19 vs X24

Same steel, same warranty, same country of manufacture. The X Series decision is almost purely about diameter, which makes it unusually easy once you know what the numbers do.

The short answer

Buy the X19 unless you regularly host more than about six people or already own a big open yard. Both are corten with the same lifetime warranty and the same US manufacture; the X24 is 5.4 in wider and 15 lb heavier, which buys a bigger fire and costs you portability and clearance.

Pick 1 · Cooking and permanence

Breeo X Series 24

Breeo
Breeo X Series 24

62 lb of corten meant to stay where you put it, with a rim designed as a cooking surface. The heaviest pit here and the only one built around a searing ring.

What is good
  • Corten forms a stable oxide layer instead of pitting through, which is why it is sold uncoated
  • The rim is a genuine cooking surface with a searing-ring accessory, not a marketing line
  • Made in Pennsylvania, which is verifiable and unusual in this category
What is not
  • 62 lb means it is placed once. Check clearance before, not after
  • Corten stains whatever it sits on. Concrete and pavers underneath will discolor
  • Nothing about the finish is warranted, because the finish is rust
Who it is for

A permanent spot on gravel or grass where the pit is part of the yard, and someone who will actually cook on it.

Skip this if

The pit has to live on a finished patio, a deck, or anywhere a runoff stain matters. Stainless is the answer there.

What we could not assess

We have not burned this unit. These are the things a specification sheet cannot answer, listed rather than glossed over.

  • How fast the patina stabilizes in your climate. Humid and coastal air behave differently and Breeo does not publish a timeline
  • Whether the heat-output figures circulating for this pit come from a standard test. We found no published method behind them

Pick 2 · Corten on a smaller footprint

Breeo X Series 19

Breeo
Breeo X Series 19

The X24's construction at 22.1 in and 47 lb. Same corten, same made-in-USA, 15 lb less to move and a smaller clear radius to find.

What is good
  • Corten longevity without the X24's 62 lb
  • Accessory-compatible with the rest of the Breeo range
  • Smaller diameter is easier to clear to code on a real patio
What is not
  • Still stains the surface underneath
  • Heavier than every stainless pit of comparable diameter
  • The cooking rim is narrower than the X24's
Who it is for

Someone who wants the corten build but has a mid-size yard rather than an acre.

Skip this if

You need to move the pit regularly, or it lives on a surface that cannot take rust runoff.

What the extra 5.4 inches buys

Fire area grows with the square of the diameter, so the gap between these two is bigger than it sounds. The X24 gives you meaningfully more room to build a proper lay, takes longer logs without wedging them diagonally, and throws more radiant heat simply because there is more burning surface facing outward.

It also asks for more. More wood per evening, more space around it for clearance, and 62 lb of corten is not something you reposition casually — neither of these is portable, but the X19 at 47 lb is at least a two-person lift rather than a project.

Which size suits which situation
Your situationThe sizeWhy
Four to six people, typical patioX19Fills the circle without dominating it, and uses less wood
Regularly hosting eight or moreX24More burning surface facing outward at more chairs
Tight yard or a fixed seating areaX19Clearance is measured from the fire, and a bigger pit needs more of it
Cooking on the searing ringX24More rim to work with, and more room for a coal bed beside the flame

Corten, and the thing to understand before buying either

Both pits are corten weathering steel, which is not stainless and is not painted. Corten is designed to rust — the surface oxidizes into a stable, tightly adhered layer that then slows further corrosion, which is why it is used for outdoor sculpture and bridges.

One practical consequence people discover late: corten runoff stains. In its first season a corten pit will leave orange marks on light pavers, concrete or decking beneath it. That is worth planning for before the pit arrives rather than after.

What is the same, and it is most things

This is an unusually clean comparison because Breeo has not differentiated the two models by anything except size. Same material, same lifetime warranty, same US manufacture, same smokeless design, same accessory ecosystem. There is no better-built version here and no feature the smaller pit gives up.

That is genuinely different from how the Solo Stove range is arranged, where the sizes bring different weights, finishes and included parts. If you are cross-shopping, Solo Stove vs Breeo covers the two systems against each other, and the X24 review goes deeper on the larger pit on its own terms.

Clearance scales with the pit

A wider pit means a wider fire, which means more radiant heat reaching whatever is nearby and a larger circle of ground beneath. If the seating and the fence are already at their minimum distances for an X19, an X24 does not fit the same spot — it fits a bigger spot. The figures are in how far a fire pit should be from the house.

How we compared them

How these were ranked
  • Compared on published specifications only, quoted from the current retail listings and the manufacturer's own material, and cited on each product's spec sheet.
  • Ranked for a general buyer rather than for the largest yard — the bigger pit is not automatically the better purchase.
  • What we did not do: burn either of these, measure heat output, or verify the warranty terms beyond what is published.

We have not burned any of these units, and we do not claim to have. The full method, including what it cannot tell you.

Common questions

What is the difference between the Breeo X19 and X24?
Size, and almost nothing else. The X19 is 22.1 in across the outside and weighs 47 lb; the X24 is 27.5 in and 62 lb. Both are corten weathering steel, made in the USA, with the same lifetime warranty to the original purchaser.
Is the Breeo X24 worth the extra over the X19?
If you regularly host eight or more people, or want more room to cook on the searing ring, yes. For a typical patio and four to six people the X19 is the better buy — it uses less wood and needs less clearance around it.
Why is the Breeo X19 22 inches and not 19?
The model numbers refer to the approximate inner fire area rather than the outer dimension. The X19's published outer diameter is 22.1 in and the X24's is 27.5 in.
Does Breeo's warranty cover rust?
No, and that is deliberate on both models. These pits are corten weathering steel, which is designed to develop a stable rust layer as its finish. The lifetime warranty covers the pit; the rusting is the intended behavior of the material.
Will a Breeo fire pit stain my patio?
In its first season, most likely. Corten runoff leaves orange marks on light pavers, concrete and decking. Decide where it is going before it arrives, because the marks are difficult to remove afterwards.
Are the X19 and X24 both smokeless?
Both use the same double-wall design that draws air up through the wall and injects it at the top of the bowl to burn off smoke. Size does not change the mechanism, and neither one is smoke-free with wet wood.
